Julia Fox Champions Transparency Around Cosmetic Procedures: “It’s Such a Beautiful Message”

Speaking at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, the actress and model opens up about aging, self-worth, and the power of honesty in beauty culture.

Julia Fox, the actress known for her breakout role in Uncut Gems, is continuing to reshape conversations around beauty, aging, and authenticity. While attending the North American premiere of her new film The Trainer at the 2025 Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 7, the 35-year-old star shared her views on cosmetic procedures, transparency in beauty standards, and self-acceptance.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Fox praised the “new wave of women” who have been candid about their cosmetic enhancements, describing the shift as both empowering and necessary.

I love it. I think we should be honest,” Fox said. “Women set the bar for each other, and I feel like if you’re setting an unrealistic bar [by not being honest], that’s really great for you — but what about all the girls that are so impressionable and feeling like ‘Why don’t I look like that?’

Having openly discussed her own procedures in the past—including liposuction and Botox—Fox emphasized that unrealistic portrayals of beauty harm self-image, especially among young women. Her message was clear: it’s time to remove the illusion.

None of us look like this,” she explained. “We all look really different without the surgery, fillers, makeup, face tapes, wigs, tanning creams—the list goes on.

At the Trainer premiere—where she stars as Bee Luciani alongside Vito Schnabel and Bella Thorne—Fox radiated confidence, not only on the red carpet but in her reflections on body image and self-worth. She stressed the importance of normalizing natural beauty and aging, especially in an era saturated by digital perfection and filter culture.

It’s really important to tell girls there’s nothing wrong with you. You’re perfect the way you are, and this is all smoke and mirrors, sweetie. It’s such a beautiful message.

Fox has long positioned herself as a vocal critic of the anti-aging industry. In a 2022 TikTok clip, she declared, “Aging is fully in—like fully.” She went on to call out the absurdity of expensive anti-aging products, stating:

If I see another product that says anti-aging on the label, I’m suing. I’m going to sue because I’m going to age regardless of if I put that f—ing $500 serum on my face.

In the same video, she added that growing older is actually sexy—arguing that the pressure of being “hot” in your twenties was far more exhausting than embracing one’s mature self.

In a 2023 Elle interview, Fox reaffirmed that although she wouldn’t rule out further procedures, she was now more accepting of her natural body. “I’m, like, saggy — things are not sitting the way they used to. But I am not gonna do a damn thing about it.

Beyond her personal experiences, Fox continues to use her platform to redefine beauty standards, encouraging others to love themselves authentically—without succumbing to the pressures of perfection.

Being open about our transformations, flaws, and choices isn’t weakness—it’s strength,” she said.

Julia Fox’s message at Tribeca wasn’t just about beauty—it was about truth, vulnerability, and reclaiming agency over one’s image. And in a world filled with filters and façades, her honesty couldn’t be more refreshing.
